Dan the Man was raised in Loudonville, NY with his brother and sisters.  He grew up with a sense of wonder and adventure for the world. He loved experimenting and trying different things.  His curiosity led him to participate in a multitude of sports and activities which instilled in him the basis for the fit lifestyle he practices today.


Dan has been a personal trainer and group exercise teacher for over five years. Before finding his niche as a fitness instructor, he pursued other trades such as being an Event DJ and engineering student. It wasn’t till he started working at the Albany YMCA he began to find his calling. Starting just a lifeguard, Dan took opportunities to grow and learn which led him to group exercise training. Through his education and practice, Dan has helped multiple people discover their limits to their fitness and aid them in finding the joy of exercise. His goal in life is to help as many people as possible become self-empowered and find their own self-love through hard work, sweat, and a whole lot of burpees.

    Guilty All the Same- Linkin Park.

  2. What is it about HIWB and group fitness?
    I enjoy the challenge that each workout has and seeing what I have to do on the white board (It’s both a blessing and a curse). I love the people that I see each day working their buns off.  It’s a constant reminder that I must work hard and it inspires me to be the best version of myself that I can be.

  3. If you could be any animal, what would you be and why?
    A ninja Turtle because you beat up bad guys, skateboard and eat pizza all day.

  4. Post workout snack?
    Cheerios with warm milk.

  5. Perfect Sunday afternoon activity?
    Longboarding on a quiet path and finding a patch of earth to practice Tai chi and then falling asleep on a blanket as I check out the clouds and think about what I’m going to have for dinner. On Rainy days, go to Barnes n Noble and read a book for free.

  6. Most challenging exercise movement and why?

The over-head squat, because I have bad shoulder mobility and it’s tough to get as low as I normally do without losing form.

  7. Best advice you ever received?

Get comfortable with feeling uncomfortable.

Smart, Suave and Silly.

 12. Your biggest accomplishment?

Eating a dozen of the blazing flavored chicken wings from Buffalo Wild Wings.

 13. Your mantra?

You were never created to live depressed, defeated, guilty, condemned, ashamed, or unworthy. You were created to be victorious.

 14. Celebrity crush?

Demi Lovato

 15. Favorite season and why?

Spring because I love rain showers and pretty flowers...also baseball season starts so that’s cool too.
